Real Medieval Games A lot of the culture of the Middle Ages has been lost to us and particularly the early centuries before there was a lot of written work being done. But what we do know of medieval times is extremely fascinating and rich. They had a vibrant and varied life and of course they had games! Here are some games from the Middle ages that we still can have fun with today. It is the game that ranks above all other games; medieval in flair and virtually unchanged for centuries. It is the ultimate challenge and totally devoid of any luck. It is all about skill and ability. Nobody knows where it originated but it slowly spread across continents over centuries and found its way to Europe during the crusades where it was finalized into the game we know today with knights, kings pawns and more. Is believed to have originated in Mesopotamia and is thought to be the oldest recorded game in history.
The game of a labyrinth has been passed down to us from the Ancient Greeks. It was originally a board game and it was a race to the center style game. the more popular modern form is a game of dexterity where you race a marble to the center. The game has an obvious tie-in to the myth of the Minotaur in the Labyrinth.
